ELVIS CHRISTMAS DUETS CD IS #1 ON AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY CHART

The Elvis Christmas Duets CD is this week at #38 on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart after it's debut at #89 last week. On the Country Chart, the album has moved from #5 to #1 in it's fifth week on the chart.
This is Elvis' second album to appear on the Australian ARIA Country Charts. The compilation CD, Elvis Country (82876774332) peaked at #66 in November 2006 after a 38 week stay on the chart. (This is a good indicator of how small a sales market the Australian Country Chart is - so keep an eye on the main chart as the best reference as to the performance of Elvis Christmas Duets.)

Billboard Top 200 Album Charts

The 'Christmas Duets' compilation sold 57,000 copies in the USA this week climbing to #17 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Charts. The album sold over 100,000 copies in the US.

On the Hot Country Songs chart Elvis Presley's 'Blue Christmas' duet with contemporary vocal overdubs from Martina McBride, is the top debut at #43.

Elvis Presley makes splash on country chart (USA)

After not charting on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart for 10 years, Elvis Presley has logged his second new entry in two weeks. 'Blue Christmas', a duet with Martina McBride, debuted at No. 43 on Thursday, following last week's No. 60 bow of 'I'll Be Home for Christmas' with Carrie Underwood. 'Blue Christmas' is Presley's 68th entry and marks the first time in his 53-year chart career that he's had songs debut in two consecutive weeks.

This is the second time that a Presley recording of 'Blue Christmas' has appeared on Hot Country Songs. Although Elvis cut the song in 1957, it didn't chart country until January 1998, when it peaked at No. 55.

The original version of 'Blue Christmas' by Ernest Tubb debuted on the survey in December 1949 and peaked at No. 2. Vince Gill took the tune to No. 74 in January 1999, and Clay Walker brought it to No. 51 in January 2001.

This means that the Elvis Presley / Martina McBride duet is the highest-charting version of the composition since Ernest Tubb's original, 59 years ago.

Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes, Sara Evans, Gretchen Wilson, Anne Murray, Amy Grant, Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, and Wynonna Judd create history with the first Elvis Presley duet recordings album and the first Christmas compilation of its kind ever produced.
